Today, our team is making a comparison between Redmi Note 7 Pro and Galaxy A50 specs. Which one suits your needs? Which one is better?
With 48MP primary camera resolution and more premium feel than its predecessor, Redmi Note 7 Pro has its own charm for a budget smartphone. However, to compete in the budget segment with Chinese manufacturers, Samsung comes with its Galaxy A50. It also has impressive specs with large battery capacity and 4/6GB RAM.
Check our review about the comparison of Redmi Note 7 Pro and Galaxy A50 below.
Design and Display: It’s Up to Your Needs
Redmi Note 7 Pro has a 6.3 inch IPS LCD display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display also gets 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution.
Its body is made of plastic. Yet, when you check the back of the device, it has a polished material with glass coating (Glasstic). So you would feel Redmi Note 7 Pro eye-pleasing for a budget smartphone.
You won’t need much to worry about its glass on the back. Both of the front and the back of the device are protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Xiaomi claimed that this smartphone is solid enough to break a walnut.
Now, let’s move to Galaxy A50. It has a 6.4 inch Super AMOLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. So it is certain that the display in Galaxy A50 is bigger than Redmi Note 7 Pro.
For smartphones nowadays, the screen size is somewhat tricky. To make your hand grips the device comfortably, most of the smartphone manufacturers don’t increase the device’s width.
They put some more effort to make the device taller, just like Galaxy A80. But in this case, you would find that the aspect ratio in both of the device is the same. It means that Galaxy A50 might feel bigger in your grip.
Galaxy A50 also has a waterdrop notch display which Samsung stated it as ‘Infinity-U’ display. Similar to Redmi Note 7 Pro, the back of the device also adopts ‘Glasstic’ design.
Camera: Redmi Note 7 Pro With Dual Camera, Galaxy A50 With Triple Camera
In terms of photography, Redmi Note 7 Pro features a dual rear camera. It has a primary 48MP camera with f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 5MP camera with f/2.4 aperture. However, in default, Redmi Note 7 Pro takes a 12MP image without utilizing its 48MP sensor.
To take an image with its 48MP sensor, you might need to switch to Pro Mode. It captures a great amount of data to process a photo with 8000 x 4000 resolution. Be ready for an early no empty space in your device.
While Redmi Note 7 Pro comest with a dual rear camera, Galaxy A50 comes with a triple rear camera. It features a primary 25MP (f/1.8) camera, an 8MP (f/2.2) camera with Ultra-Wide sensor, and a 5MP (f/2.2) camera with a depth sensor.
For supporting your selfie, Galaxy A50 has a 25MP with f/2.0 aperture front camera. It is bigger than Redmi Note 7 Pro which has a 13MP front camera.
Battery: Same Capacity, Different Charging System
For powering the device, Redmi Note 7 Pro and Galaxy A50 have the same 4000 mAh battery capacity. Both of them also have a fast charging system to make them ready to action faster.
Redmi Note 7 Pro has a Fast battery charging 18W (Quick Charge 4) and Galaxy A50 has Fast battery charging 15W. Which one is faster? Well, you might assume that Samsung wouldn’t compete Xiaomi in terms of fast charging. Xiaomi puts a lot of effort into this segment.

Conclusion: We Say Yes to Galaxy A50 but Redmi Note 7 Pro is Superior For Budget Segment
Based on the specs comparison explained above, we personally conclude that Galaxy A50 is better than Redmi Note 7 Pro in some aspects. The main plus points for Redmi Note 7 Pro are that it has a huge rear camera sensor for taking an impressive image and faster charging system.
Anyway, we still choose Galaxy A50 for its triple camera setup. Some people might just totally forget about the Pro Mode in Redmi Note 7 Pro to take a crisp 48MP image. Moreover, remember that this image will consume a lot of space in your device and somehow Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with smaller expandable memory than Galaxy A50.
While we have compared them and Galaxy A50 wins in most of the aspects, Redmi Note 7 Pro actually has one more superior reason to invest in. Yes, price. It’s more affordable than Galaxy A50, making it clear why Redmi Note 7 Pro loses in specs comparison.
