Streaming platform Twitch has launched its first video game – Twitch Sings, it was announced during TwitchCon Europe event on Saturday.
Twitch X Harmonix
Emmett Shear, Co-founder/CEO of Twitch, initially announced Twitch Sings back at TwitchCon 2018 in October. He introduced it as a game that Twitch was developing in partnership with Harmonix Music Systems.
Twitch Sings is a free-to-play karaoke-style game. It is now available for streamers globally. Twitch Sings was developed from scratch for music lovers and live streamers worldwide. While it has resemblances to Smule’s ‘Sing! Karaoke’, Twitch Sings is original as a real-time musical performance platform.
Many Features For The Performers and The Audiences
The company points out Twitch Sings has a ‘go live‘ feature to instantly start broadcasting a play session. There are audience features including cheering with emotes, virtual ovations, and the chance to vote to determine the next track in the queue.
It also has a feature for the audience to challenge a player like wiping out the lyrics to a track or performing in silly voices.
Doing Solo? Duet? Your Choice
Moreover, players can sing solo or in a duet with people who already recorded their performance of the same song. Players can also broadcast video of themselves or perform with a customized avatar.
Twitch as a platform is everything about performing online, and singing is among the most everlasting and popular forms of public performance. Just like everything on Twitch, Twitch Sings will be what the community makes of it.
